After the presentation of the ELF X in 1978 which will mark the History as a formidable technical laboratory.
In the beginning of 1980, the company with the drill bit launched the study of a much more accomplished motorcycle capable of facing the queens of the 500 category, the Elf-2, which was officially entered for the first time on the occasion of the Grand Prix de France in Castellet in 1984.
Equipped with a 3-cylinder NS 500 Honda engine, a revolutionary "cyclo-frame" type steering and suspensions placed horizontally under the engine, the Elf-2 is a revolutionary machine but remains very difficult to ride, evolutions named 2A and 2B improve the performances of the bike during the 1984-1985 seasons.
In 1986 the Elf-3 replaces the Elf-2 in competition, the 8 years of development and the hard work of the Elf teams are finally rewarded with a first victory at the Macau Grand Prix driven by Ron Haslam.
