The 1973 Monaco Grand Prix marks a new stage in the history of this event since the circuit of the Principality has been modified since the previous edition. The president of the ACM Michel Boeri is at the origin of this work. Thus a new section connects the curve of the tobacco shop to the old bend of the Gasometer. The straight gives way to a series of two rapid S's running alongside the new nautical centre. The Gasometer bend disappears, replaced by a very slow succession of two tight bends: the Rascasse hairpin and Antony Noghès. The route thus extends by 133 metres. As for the pits, they leave the seaside and set up on the quay freed up by the disappearance of the straight line.

Jackie Stewart wins the Monaco GP with 1.3s. ahead of Emerson Fittipaldi. This is his 25th victory in Formula. He thus equals the success record established by his compatriot Jim Clark
